Russian Missile and Drone Attacks Kill 18 Across Ukraine

At least 18 people were killed and more than 100 injured after large-scale Russian missile and drone strikes targeted multiple areas across Ukraine.
At least 18 people were killed in a large wave of Russian missile and drone attacks across Ukraine overnight, according to Ukrainian officials. The strikes targeted several cities, including Kyiv and Dnipro, causing major destruction to residential areas and infrastructure.

Regional authorities said 12 people died in the city of Dnipro after an apartment building was heavily damaged in the attack. Among the victims were two children, including an eight-year-old boy. Rescue teams continued searching through the rubble for survivors and victims.

In the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, officials confirmed that six people lost their lives during the overnight bombardment. More than 100 people were reportedly injured nationwide.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said civilian infrastructure and energy facilities were among the main targets of the attacks. He stated that Russia launched hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles of different types during the operation.

According to Ukrainian officials, the overnight assault included ballistic, cruise, and anti-ship missiles along with hundreds of strike drones, making it one of the largest attacks seen in recent months.

Russia’s defence ministry claimed the strikes were carried out in response to earlier Ukrainian operations and stated that all intended military objectives had been achieved. Kremlin officials also said Russia would continue what they described as “systematic strikes” against Ukrainian infrastructure.

The attacks came after warnings from President Zelensky that another major strike could occur, urging citizens to remain alert during air raid warnings.

Ukraine has again appealed to its allies for additional air defence support, particularly missile systems used to intercept incoming attacks. Officials say shortages of defence equipment have become a growing challenge amid the ongoing conflict.

The latest escalation has increased international concerns over the continued fighting and the impact on civilians across Ukraine.
